How to Transition Your Skincare Routine from Winter to Spring (Without Irritating Sensitive Skin)

If you have sensitive skin, the change of seasons can feel like starting all over again. Just when you finally figured out your winter routine, March shows up and your skin starts acting completely different. Sometimes oily, sometimes dry, sometimes both at the same time. I get it. As an esthetician with PCOS, seasonal transitions used to throw my skin into full panic mode.

The good news? You do not have to throw everything out and start fresh. You just need to make a few intentional swaps and understand why your skin is behaving the way it is right now.

Why does your skin change in March?

As temperatures slowly climb and humidity starts returning to the air, your skin has to recalibrate. During winter you were probably using heavier products to fight dry indoor heating and cold wind. Now that the environment is shifting, those same products can feel too thick, sit on top of the skin, or even start clogging your pores.

At the same time, your skin barrier took a beating all winter and it is not fully healed yet. So even though it is getting warmer, your skin still needs support. This is the tension of the spring transition: your skin needs less heaviness but more protection. Both things are true at the same time.

How to transition step by step
