A lot of people think of facials as a treat, something you do for a special occasion or when you really need to decompress. And while I absolutely want every client to feel relaxed and taken care of in my treatment room, I also want to be honest about something: a monthly facial is one of the most effective things you can do for your long term skin health. It is not just self care. It is skin care in the truest sense.
Here is what actually happens during my Monthly Maintenance facial and why it makes such a difference.
Why monthly frequency matters
Your skin renews itself on a roughly 28 to 30 day cycle. Old cells make their way to the surface and shed, revealing the newer skin underneath. As we get older this process slows down, and even in younger skin it does not always happen as evenly or efficiently as we would like. Congestion builds up, dead cells accumulate, and skin starts looking dull and feeling rough even if you are diligent with your home routine.
Monthly facials are timed to work with this natural cycle. Coming in once a month means we are consistently supporting your skin's renewal process, clearing congestion before it becomes breakouts, and delivering treatments that keep your barrier strong and your complexion clear.
What happens during the Monthly Maintenance facial

Every session starts with a thorough skin analysis. I look at your skin and assess what is happening that month, because your skin changes based on your cycle, your stress levels, the weather, your diet, and a hundred other factors. The treatment I give you in April might be slightly different from the one I give you in January, even though the framework is the same.
We start with a deep cleanse to remove surface buildup and prepare your skin for what comes next. Then we move into hydradermabrasion combined with a chemical exfoliant, which is one of my favorite combinations for sensitive skin because it exfoliates thoroughly while simultaneously delivering hydration rather than stripping the skin dry the way traditional physical exfoliation can.
Extractions come next. I know a lot of people are nervous about this part but thorough professional extractions done correctly are one of the most important things we can do for congested skin. Blackheads, closed comedones, and congestion that sits under the surface will eventually become inflamed breakouts if left alone. Clearing them monthly keeps your skin consistently cleaner and prevents that cycle from starting.
After extractions we apply a targeted treatment mask chosen specifically for what your skin needs that day. This is followed by a collagen peptide infusion delivered via ultrasound technology, which boosts elasticity and hydration at a deeper level than topical products can reach on their own.
We finish with red light therapy to calm any inflammation from the treatment, promote healing, and support collagen production from within. Red light therapy is one of those ingredients I genuinely believe in because the research behind it is solid and the results are visible over time.
Every session also includes a lifestyle and homecare consultation. I want to know what is going on in your life, what you are using at home, and whether anything needs to be adjusted. Skincare does not happen in a vacuum and the conversation we have at the end of each appointment is part of what makes the results sustainable.
What you will notice over time
After your first facial you will likely notice your skin looks brighter and feels smoother. After three to four months of consistent monthly appointments most clients notice a significant difference in their skin texture, the frequency of breakouts, and their overall skin tone. The results compound over time in a way that occasional facials simply cannot replicate.
I see it every month with my regular clients. The difference between someone who comes in consistently and someone who comes in a few times a year is significant, not because the occasional facial does nothing but because consistency is what produces real lasting change.
What to do between appointments
Your home routine matters between sessions. I always send clients home with specific recommendations for what to use and how to use it, and I adjust those recommendations as your skin evolves. The goal is for your home routine and your monthly treatment to work together rather than in isolation.
If you are a Skin and Soul product user, your routine is already built around the same barrier-first philosophy that guides my treatments. Gentle cleansing, hydration, targeted serums, and daily SPF. Simple, intentional, and effective.
