If you have been dealing with acne for a long time and feel like you have tried everything, you have probably heard of acne boot camp but might not be sure exactly what it involves or whether it is actually different from everything else you have tried. I want to break it down honestly because it is one of the treatments I am most passionate about offering at Skin and Soul.
What acne boot camp actually is
The Face Reality Acne Boot Camp is a three to six month acne clearing program that combines biweekly professional treatments with a strictly prescribed at home routine using acne safe products. It is not a single facial or a quick fix. It is a committed process that addresses acne from multiple angles at the same time, which is exactly why it works when other things have not.
Face Reality has a 95% success rate with clients who commit fully to the program. I want to be upfront about that word commit, because that is the honest part that matters most.

What the commitment looks like
You come in for a treatment every two weeks. In between appointments you follow the prescribed skincare routine exclusively, meaning you stop using products from other brands during the program. You are also willing to look at lifestyle factors like diet, stress, and the products you use on your hair and body that could be contributing to your breakouts.
I know that sounds like a lot. But when you have been fighting acne for years, two to six months of focused effort to actually clear your skin is a reasonable trade. Most of my clients tell me they wish they had done it sooner.
What happens during the biweekly treatments
Each session includes a thorough skin analysis so I can track exactly how your skin is responding and adjust the protocol as needed. We do a deep cleanse, chemical exfoliation tailored to your skin, and extractions to clear congestion that would otherwise turn into new breakouts. The treatment evolves as your skin clears so we are always working at the right level for where your skin is right now.
Why it works when other things have not
Most acne treatments fail because they address one piece of the puzzle without looking at the full picture. A cleanser alone does not clear acne. A peel alone does not clear acne. Acne boot camp works because it combines professional treatments, the right products, and lifestyle support all at the same time, consistently, over enough time for your skin to actually change.
Acne also has triggers that are specific to each person. For some clients it is dairy. For others it is a haircare product that contains pore clogging ingredients, or a moisturizer that seems harmless but is silting pores. Part of what I do during boot camp is help you identify and eliminate your specific triggers.
Is it right for you?
Acne boot camp is a great fit if you have persistent acne that has not responded to over the counter products, if you have tried multiple things without lasting results, or if you are tired of guessing and want a structured evidence based approach with professional support.
It works for all skin types and all kinds of acne including hormonal acne, cystic acne, and acne in adults. I see a lot of clients in their late 20s and 30s who assumed they would have grown out of acne by now and are frustrated that they have not. You are not alone and it is absolutely treatable.
What it is not
It is not a passive treatment where you come in and I fix everything. Your results depend on your commitment to the home routine and your willingness to make adjustments. If you go off the prescribed products or skip appointments frequently the process takes longer and results are less consistent.
I always have an honest conversation about this with new clients before we start because I want everyone who comes to me to be set up for success.
